The Prospect Centre at
16 Hoxton Square is a
partnership between:

Whether you want to get onto a training programme, get fit, learn about healthy eating, set up a small business, hold a meeting or simply have a meal and catch up with old friends, 16 Hoxton Square is the place to be.

16 Hoxton Square, a specially converted grade II listed former primary school, is a pioneering development in the heart of Londons East End. It provides learning, personal development and enterprise opportunities for local communities and local entrepreneurs.

It aims to improve the quality of peoples lives by addressing their employment, social, health, leisure, and sometimes residential needs. The charity Training For Life developed the concept in partnership with the Shoreditch Trust, the Corporation of London, and with significant direct support from national government and the private sector.

Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott opened the Centre on Tuesday 18th May 2004. Since then 16 Hoxton Square has become a visible symbol of positive activity and change in the local community.

What the centre offers

  • A range of personal development and vocational skills programmes
  • A high quality restaurant - the Hoxton Apprentice
  • Business incubator units
  • A community gymnasium and centre of excellence for martial arts
  • A Healthy Eating Programme
  • Excellent training and meeting room facilities for businesses
"This project is more than just a training and enterprise centre, its a symbol of what can be achieved when people take the decision to reclaim their community. What could easily have become another luxury development beyond the reach of ordinary residents is now a community resource. This is a Centre built in, for, and by the people of Shoreditch"
Michael Pyner, Shoreditch Trust Chief Executive

"This exciting project shows what can be achieved by the public, voluntary and private sectors working together in partnership. There are few better examples than 16 Hoxton Square"
Michael Snyder, Chairman of the Policy and Resourses Committee of the Corporation of London
